INSPIRATION FOUND IN THE JOURNEY OF OTHERS

For the last month I have been following a blog belonging to an Antarctic explorer by the name of Dixie Dansercoer of Belgium.  The homepage of their site reads, "Antarctic Ice Expedition, Exploring the Limits, Propelled by the Wind."  When I start up my computer each morning it is the very first thing I look at wondering what went on in their world while I was asleep.  As of today he and his co-explorer Sam Deltour, also of Belgium, are 47 days into a trek across the Antarctic using only the power of the wind harnessed by kites for transport.  The photo to the left, though not from their most recent adventure does give you a sense of what they are capable of!

You are wondering how this relates to the Oregon Coast, right?  Put simply, I would not know of Dixie at this moment if I did not live on the Oregon Coast.  He and his family choose to spend part of the year in our area rejuvenating, relaxing, playing, training, writing books and of course taking in the scenery.  You never know who you are going to meet around here!  If you find yourself with some free time and are interested in what his incredible journey entails visit his blog http://www.antarcticice.be/news.aspx

Once to the site if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click on the lower left corner where it says "older posts" you can start at the very beginning.  I highly recommend taking the time to read all entries to date.  I have found much joy and inspiration in their words and experiences.  I would also suggest you take the time to read about both of the explorers and their intended mission, as it adds quite a bit of depth to the blog knowing more about who they really are.  These are truly amazing people doing exactly what they are meant to be doing!  I am seeing things a little differently because of modern day explorers, Dixie and Sam.  I hope you will enjoy reading the blog as much as I do!
